Sonia Apodaca
I am a caregiving cornerstone and pivot point between Biscochito, the person receiving care, and their Circle of Love. I work with the entire team and Circle of Love, advocating for the Total Life of the person we are providing support for. I make sure everyone is heard, seen, and valued.
I am friendly, calm, loving, observant, loyal, honest, patient, and my favorite thing about myself, I am organized.
At two months of age I was adopted into a beautiful family whose oldest child, Elias, had cerebral palsy. My family taught me how to be with someone with a disability, and Elias was my best friend. After my parents passed away I became Elias’ primary caregiver and then started working with hundreds of other caregivers. After Elias passed I continued working with caregivers and providing care for people who need support. Supporting caregivers fills my heart with joy, and working with people who need support is as important to me as breathing.
I’ve worked in various roles supporting caregivers and family members of people who need support for the last 25 years. I am especially good at helping connect people with the activities and opportunities in their larger community, and I am excited to bring my years of experience to the Biscochito team, some of whom I’ve worked with for the past 20 years.
